Over the last few years, I’ve reviewed a number of bags from Sunday Golf.
Each one of them is solid for what they are, and a good fit for the right person.
But if I’m honest, that right person hasn’t necessarily been me.
The El Camino is a solid Sunday bag I’ve occasionally used to go to the range with.
But the Loma just never quite looked right to me, and the Ryder is a little too small for my tastes, personally.
But The Ranger bag is a different story, and is the first Sunday Golf bag that I’d consider personally using on a regular basis.
Build quality and features are both a step above anything they’ve done in the past. It’s also the most expensive bag they’ve ever made, but with our discount, you can pick it up for considerably less than other luxury golf bags.
So should you? That’s what we’re going to cover in this Sunday Golf Ranger bag review.

First Impressions of the Sunday Golf Ranger: “Wait, what is This?”
When Sunday asked if they could send over a bag for me to check out, I said “sure.”
But I didn’t pay close attention to what it was. I expected more of the same: fun branding, smaller size, and a great fit for a younger demographic who want something cool, without a high price tag.
I pulled the bag out of the box, and immediately said ‘Wait, what’s this?!”
Not only does it look great, but you could tell immediately the materials and build quality are a step above a typical Sunday Golf bag.
It currently only comes in one colorway, black, and it looks awesome.
They’ve kept all the Sunday branding minimal, which I love.
The Nylon Ripstop is lightweight, and the square design for the club dividers both looks and feels durable.
One of the most unique aspects you notice is the 6 way divider. It has a boxy design with a rubberized plastic around it, that looks different than most other competing bags.
Overall, my first impressions were fantastic.
Right off the bat, you can tell this is different than other Sunday Bags, with the exception of the Big Rig. This bag feels like the carry version of that in terms of its build and features.
The Ranger from Sunday Golf is hands down the best stand bag they've ever made. It's not cheap, but with our discount it comes in quite a bit less than comparable bags from dedicated luxury brands.
Speaking of Features, What Are They?
As far as features go, there’s a lot to like here.
I mentioned the better build quality and materials across the board, and I think that’s the most important thing to note here.
It’s not quite on the level of a Vessel Bag, however. The closest comparison would be their Player IV Pro DXR. That Ripstop feels a little bit lighter, but this feels more durable.
The Vessel Bags also have some real leather and microfiber touches that make it feel a bit more luxury-oriented.
The full-length dividers on the Ranger are a great touch, and something you come to expect on bags of a certain price point.
The magnetized “frosty pocket” feels great.
It’s located right on the front of the bag where many other bags would put a rangefinder pouch.
This pocket is super deep, and big enough to fit 2 16oz cans and an ice pack – which should be perfect for most people.
The only thing I don’t like about this, is that I do typically keep a rangefinder in this pouch on other bags. And if you do that here, then it’s just a little bit too deep for that use case. But that’s a “me issue” and I think most people will like having the cooler there.
Strap Quality, Zippers, and Carrying The Ranger
The plastic clips on the straps do feel a little cheap, and the straps themselves, while comfortable and lightweight, aren’t quite as padded as other high-end bags.
In real-world use, however, I found this bag to be comfortable to carry and a nice weight – when you don’t try and put too much stuff in there.
At 5.5 pounds, it’s certainly not the lightest bag out there, but it’s also far from the heaviest.
I’ve used the Ranger for 2 rounds now, and it’s performed exactly the way I’d have hoped. All of the primary features and pockets perform as advertised and feel thoughtfully designed.
I do wish there were a little more padding on the hip pad, and I’d like the top handle to be slightly more robust. Both the Vessel Player Series and Sun Mountain Mid Stripe have a thicker genuine leather handle here, which I’ve always appreciated.
The carbon fiber legs look good, open well, and feel durable.
The zippers all have Sunday branded pull tags, and open and close very easily.
The valuables pocket is weather-resistant and microfiber-lined, which is great to see.
Should You Buy the Sunday Ranger?
This bag finds itself in a little bit of an odd middle ground pricing-wise.
Currently after using our Sunday coupon code which gives 15% off their pricing, this bag is $322.
That’s more expensive than a Jones Trouper at $295, but significantly less than a Vessel Player IV DXR at $395, or $435 for the “Pro” version which I recommend.
I feel like The Ranger at retail is too much. It doesn’t feel like a $399 bag which is where their list price has it. But around $300, it’s much more palatable and will be a great option for a lot of golfers.
The Ranger is well built, has lots of features, and is the best-looking bag Sunday has ever made (in my opinion).
As to whether or not you should buy, I think it’s going to come down to style and brand name.
Sunday Golf simply doesn’t have the cache as a Jones or Vessel bag (yet).
So for golfers looking at those brands, I think this bag will be a tough sell.
However, Sunday Golf is winning over a huge generation of younger golfers and golfers who are newer to the game. I think for many of them, upgrading to this over their Ryder Bag is an excellent move, and will get them a significantly better bag.
I’m curious to see over time if Sunday continues to have more higher-end offerings. If so, I think more and more golfers will be willing to take a shot on a higher-priced bag for them.
If not, then I think this will be aimed squarely at their current fans who are looking for a little more.
Regardless of what the future holds, this is easily the best stand bag Sunday has ever made, and it’s one that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using over my last couple rounds.

This is Sunday's best stand bag yet. But is it enough to compete in the high end bag market?
Not only does the Ranger look great, but it's build quality, design choices, and materials are very well done overall. There are a few elements that feel cheaper, and a couple things I might have done differently, but overall Sunday knocked it out of the park with this bag. The question is how will the market respond to it's retail price and how much will we see it discounted in the future.

- Solid set of features with a great layout
- The all black styling makes this the best looking Sunday bag yet
- Full length, six way dividers work well and don't tangle.
The Bad
- Straps and hip pad could use more cushioning
- The high retail price will turn some buyers off
