Seamus Golf: The World’s Best Golf Headcovers

Portland has a surprisingly large boutique golf community.

We’re home to golfclubs.com, Jones Bags, Mackenzie Bags, and my personal favorite Seamus Golf.

Despite the growing network of people I know in Portland, I had to fly all the way out to the PGA show in Orlando to finally meet Akbar, the founder of Seamus.

Why Seamus Golf Has the Best Golf Headcovers

Seamus Golf brings things back to basics. They make golf accessories such as head covers, ball markers, divot tools and more – but the cool thing is that everything they do is hand made in Portland…and the craftsmanship is unparalleled.

I’m learning that the golf world is a pretty small place. My buddy Ian of Sugarloaf Social Club, was friends with Akbar and we ended up all grabbing drinks the first night I while I was down in Orlando – something I was thankful for as nobody wants to spend their first night at a convention alone 🙂

I immediately could tell I was going to like this guy.

The next day I came by their booth to check out more of their products, and the first thing he says to me is “what are your initials?”

He then proceeds to head over to his anvil – yes, anvil – pick up a hammer and start hammering out my initials on the back of a copper Bandon Dunes ball marker.

“Here you go, to commemorate breaking eighty.”

    Full story about that here.

Nevermind the fact he was doing it for most of the people coming by the booth, it still felt super personal and was definitely the coolest take home gift from the show.

Fast forward a couple of months. I’d lost two of my three head covers on my trip to Pinehurst, and so was in the market for replacements

Naturally Seamus Golf was the go to choice.

I picked an awesome tweed style and sent him over my new Breaking Eighty logo, that wasn’t even up on the site yet.

We met up for a very rainy round of golf at Portland Golf Club and he handed me a big Seamus box and said hope you like em’!

When I opened the box, I may have legitimately squealed.

    Seriously.

The headcovers were exactly what I was hoping they’d be, and I get asked about them all the time.

What I love about Seamus Golf is the “ooh, that’d be cool – let’s do it” attitude that seams to permeate throughout their products. It’s that attitude that found them producing products for the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay – as well as at some of the finest golf clubs throughout the nation.

If you haven’t heard of Seamus Golf yet, you will.

The drive of the team, the unique designs that blend classic styling with modern flair perfectly, and the fact they’re doing something different in a golf world accessory world where innovation can be tough to find – means Seamus Golf is only going to see more success.

And now that I’m thinking about it, it’s time to head over to their website and pick out the gifts for my groomsmen 🙂

LOVE Seamus Golf! I’ve got my own set of head covers waiting for me under the Christmas tree as a present from my gf – can’t wait to see the styles and colors she picked out for me!

Very cool experience with Akbar, I’ve heard he’s a great guy!
